Work is worship,  or at least it should be.

When we labor with purpose, joy becomes our companion.

This does not shield us from the trials of life, but it allows us to face them with a spirit of positive energy.

Are you working or toiling?

Someone once said that no matter how fast you run in the “rat race” you’re still a rat!

We were created to work, and in work, we find our worship.

So how does one find worship in work?

  1. Be mindful. Be present with the people that are in your vicinity.
  2. Connect with people authentically. There are several times when I was so focused on the task that I missed great opportunities to build connections
  3. Be grateful. Find things to be grateful for the work that you’re doing.
  4. Be intentional in your delivery. Look for ways to exceed expectations. Especially your own standards of excellence. Do something that you’re proud of.

My divine connections have often come through my work, especially when I have been living authentically (Yes, I too have experienced the burdens of toiling and the hollowness of inauthenticity).

Through work, I have encountered individuals who have become my cherished friends. Even in the story of creation, it is at his place of work that God meets Adam.

Toiling is when your efforts yield little despite the hard work, or when the fruits of your labor come at a great cost to your well-being.

The bottom line: purposeful work arises from living authentically, driven by our values. Toiling, however, stems from a place of low self-worth.

Trust in your source, and let your work be your worship.
